Roomba 671

Roomba 671 Review – What You Should Know Before Buying

Vacuum robots are good cleaning companions. They help you with the cleaning while you do other things on the side. It’s a big help especially if you are too tired to vacuum or clean the floor and you just want to relax or do things that you actually enjoy doing like reading or watching. When it comes to vacuum robots, one of the best brands, is the iRobot Roomba.

The Roomba 671 is an impressive vacuum robot at a great price. Although it is more expensive than its predecessor, it is still considered as budget-friendly and it has wireless connectivity which means you can use the iRobot Home App to schedule and monitor cleaning sessions. It is also compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Design and Dimensions

The Roomba 671 is a circular and black robot vacuum that is 3.6 inches tall and weighs 5 lbs. It looks like a big cd player with its control buttons in the middle. It does not have a lot of complicated control buttons and you will find the Clean/Power button in the middle of the device with Spot and Dock buttons on top and bottom. This kind of design is constant to all Roombas. It also has a patented duo brush design that is unique to all Roombas. The Roomba 671 does not have a wide color selection and it only comes in black. You will also notice that it does not have an LCD or LED display, unlike other vacuum robots.

Performance and Technology

All Roombas have a 3-stage cleaning system and it’s the same for the Roomba 671. It loosens, lifts, and suctions dust, dirt, and hair from your hardwood, tile, linoleum, or carpet flooring. The Roomba 671 has a patented duo brush design and is equipped with Dual Multi-Surface Brushes that work together to grab dust, dirt, and large debris as well as an Edge-Sweeping Brush, a brush that is specially designed at a 27-degree angle to sweep debris away from edges and corners. The Roomba 671 also has an Auto-Adjust cleaning head that automatically adjusts its height to thoroughly clean any type of flooring.

To properly clean the house, the Roomba 671 uses Dirt Detection technology that detects the areas that are dirty and will go over that area until it is thoroughly clean. It also has an AeroVac filter that captures fine dust and other dirt particles. The filter does a pretty decent job in maintaining the cleaning performance of the Roomba 671.

This vacuum robot model cleans everywhere, even under your furniture – and you don’t have to worry about your device because it is equipped with iAdapt technology and other bump and cliff sensors that allows the device to detect walls and prevent it from falling off the stairs or bumping to a wall.

Power

When it comes to power, the Roomba 671 has good power. It uses lithium-ion batteries and can run up to 90 minutes. Its battery is more powerful compared to the latest Roomba units that use nickel-metal hydride batteries. It also automatically docks and charges itself on its charging dock when the battery is low.

Navigation and Connectivity

The Roomba 671 is not as advanced as the latest Roombas and it is considered as an entry-level model. It does not have a lot of features but it supports WiFi connectivity and with that, the device can do a lot of things already. It can connect to the iRobot Home App and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. You can adjust or modify the settings of the device through the app and you can schedule and monitor cleaning from anywhere. And with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, you can voice command the Roomba 671 to control cleaning sessions.

Its navigation, on the other hand, is not that advanced. Although it works just fine, the device navigates randomly around the house. Unlike the more advanced model with smarter navigation features, the Roomba 671 pinballs around randomly as they clean since it does not have a camera and can not map your home.

Alternatives

iRobot Roomba 614

The first version of the Roombas, the Roomba 614, is a great alternative for the Roomba 671. It is inexpensive and it is equipped with so much power. Just like the Roomba 671, the Roomba 614 has Dual Multi-Surface Brushes, Edge-Sweeping Brush, and vacuum suction. It is also fitted with iAdapt Navigation with a full suite of sensors to prevent it from falling down the stairs. It has Dirt Detect technology too. The only downside of this robot vacuum is that it does not support wireless connectivity therefore it does not support either the iRobot Home App or the Smart Home technologies like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Roborock E4 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The Roborock E4 Robot Vacuum Cleaner is a little expensive compared to the Roomba 671. This vacuum robot has 2000PA strong suction and has 150 minutes run time compared to the Roomba 671’s 90 minutes power. Its movement is 10% faster and it has intelligent navigation. It also has a Z-shaped route compared to the Roomba 671’s random navigation; but just like the Roomba 671, the Roborock E4 supports wireless connectivity and it has smart home integration as well. It also uses its own app, the Mi Home App. You can adjust the suction strength and set schedules through the app.

Ecovacs DEEBOT 500 Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Max Power Suction

This one is on par with the Roomba 671 in terms of features but it won’t break your bank. The Ecovacs DEEBOT 500 is more affordable than the Roomba 671. This vacuum robot has two side brushes and one main brush. It also has a 3-stage cleaning system like the Roomba 671–it sweeps, lifts, and vacuums the floor. You can also set the device into Auto mode and Spot mode. The Ecovacs DEEBOT 500 supports WiFi and works with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It also has its own app called the ECOVACS Smart App, similar to Roomba 671’s iRobot Home App. This also has longer battery life: 110-minute runtime compared to 671’s 90 minutes. It is also equipped with anti-drop and anti-collision sensors and auto-return charging just like the Roomba 671.

Verdict

Overall, the Roomba 671 is an impressive entry level vacuum robot. It is affordable, of course, compared to the latest versions or the upgraded models but it still does the job better than most vacuum robots. It supports WiFi and has a smart home integration via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The Roomba 671 might not have smart navigation but it is still equipped with state-of-the-art technologies like the Dirt Detection Technology and the iAdapt Technology. It also has a lot of sensors to keep the device from falling off the stairs or from bumping to a wall.

The Roomba 671 also has a sleek design. I just wish that there were more colors to choose from. I also think that the AeroVac filter that it uses is okay but it would be great if iRobot used a HEPA filter for all their Roombas. HEPA filters are much better in capturing ultrafine particles, as small as 0.3 microns, but the AeroVac works fine too, considering the price of the Roomba 671, the filter it uses is not bad at all plus for an entry level vacuum robot, it sure has  lot of advanced features.
